And a month later, we check back in to make sure it's actually moved.

I already have a hunch about what's wrong. Is this still worth it?

Usually yes, and often the hunch is right about the symptom but wrong about the cause. The business that thinks it has a content problem frequently has an offer architecture problem. The one that thinks it needs more traffic usually has a conversion problem. Coming in with a hypothesis is fine. Leaving with a confirmed diagnosis and a clear fix is the point.
